Defa-e-Pakistan Youth Convention
Homage to martyrs of the homeland
All Pakistan Youth Organization (APYO) organized a “Defa-e-Pakistan Youth Convention” to commemorate Pakistan’s 52nd Defense Day at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. Held at IoBM Auditorium, the event was attended by IoBM Management, Deans, HoDs, faculty, staff, students, guests and students from other universities. Mr. Talib Syed Karim, President IoBM, graced this occasion with his kind and inspiring presence. Mr. Riaz Akbar Contractor, Manager Sports and Student Affairs, IoBM was also present.
Besides Dr. Ghulam Mujtuba, Chairman Pakistan Policy Institute and Chancellor York College of Health Sciences, USA, who was invited as Chief Guest of the occasion, other prominent guests included Dr. Shahida Wizarat, Dean CESD and Head of Economics Department, IoBM Director Research and Chief Editor PBR Journal; Col. Aman Malik, Veteran of the war of 1965, Col. Rafaqat Aziz, former intelligence officer of Pakistan during the war of 1965; Col. Muhammad Zafar, Custodian of the 1965 War; Col. Muhammad Sohail, who has served both in the Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force; Mr. Abdul Haseeb Khan, Senator and CEO, Brookes Pharma; Mr. Shakil Ahmed Khan, Educationist; Mr. Agha Sherazi, Senior Anchorperson, PTV and Mr. Nasir Zaidi, President, Pakistan Academic Consortium (PAC).Students from various institutes across Karachi who attended the event were from Ilma University, Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University, Lyari, NUST and Karachi University. Also in attendance were representatives from the National Youth Bureau and Pakistan Council of Youth.
The proceedings of the program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the National Anthem of Pakistan and recitation of Na’at. Also shown at the event was a documentary highlighting the various incidents leading to the 1965 War and how the courageous Pakistan army emerged victorious.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Shahida Wizarat congratulated the All Pakistan Youth Organization in holding this event while stressing upon the youth of Pakistan to make this country stronger by acquiring education and working in various sectors. She also enlightened the audience with prevailing current affairs and how they are impacting each region. During his address, Major (Retired) Hasim Ali Siddiqui shared the historical perspective of the 1965 war. Col. Rafaqat Aziz saluted the sacrifices of those martyrs who have received the Nishan-e-Haider and also saluted those unsung soldiers of Pakistan who laid their lives for their country. Col. Muhammad Zafar revealed that Pakistan has the richest genetic pool in the world and the country is blessed with abundant natural resources. Mr. Abdul Haseeb said that during the 1965 war Pakistan was not as strong as it is today because our youth represents our strength. Mr. Shakil Ahmed Khan stressed upon the fact that the youth of Pakistan has the potential to achieve excellence in personal and professional life. Dr. Ghulam Mujtuba shared that the youth of Pakistan must pledge to live with harmony and unity and safeguard the ideology of Pakistan through their actions. While delivering the vote of thanks, Hamza Rizwan, Founder Chairman, All Pakistan Youth Organization, said that the speeches of the guests will certainly give us valuable insights pertaining to the history of Pakistan and highly appreciated IoBM and its management, especially, President, Mr. Talib Syed Karim for permitting APYO to organize the event in the IoBM Auditorium.
